I heard from Nick at 12:20 & they hadn’t boarded, yet, but hoped to within a couple of minutes. No word of any further glitches, so praying they’re in the air & will be landing in the DR soon! Praying for a safe & rewarding Mission trip…..
Thanks be to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Yesterday was a long day for our team, and last night was an intense discussion among our leaders about whether this team was going to get there or whether we needed to bring them home. Amazing true story: I got on my knees in prayer, then opened my fav devotion book to a random page and read these words: “You are here to kneel where prayer has been valid.” As if that wasn’t a big enough message, God gave me another one. I flipped over the the devotion for July 24, which would be the day the team might be able to fly. The passage for that day was Isaiah 6:1-9, about Isaiah’s call and his response to God, “Here am I. Send me!” The devotion for July 24 was about a lady named Gustava and her mission trip to SANTIAGO (our team’s destination). Her story: “At the end of her journey I asked her waht she had found. ‘I have sown seeds,’ she said. ‘No I must go home, live and work and wait for the harvest. . .Certainly it had been difficult, sometimes grim.’ How had she coped? ‘I trained myself to remember the faces of the children; they were so clear, as if they were with me.”
Our team is now in the DR, sowing seeds, and they will always carry the faces of the children with them, even after they are back home. God will bring the harvest. Rev. Cathy
