Open Gym April 12, 2013

“Get out of here, kid.  This gym is for grown ups with prominent shoulder hairs!”

Are you tired of hearing that shouted at you all the time?  Then Open Gym is for you, Middle Schooler.  This Friday April 12 from 6-8pm the Gym at Trinity is open for 6-8th graders and their friends (even ones with prominent shoulder hairs).  So come hang out and play games with us.  Remember to eat dinner before you come.  And bring this form: Open Gym Flyer . That way we know who to call if you get attacked and mauled by a leash of foxes.  That’s right.  A group of foxes is called a leash.  or a skulk.  or an earth.  So says the internet.  See you at the gym, kids.

Calling all cool people.

first a website, then facebook, then a blog. Whats next you ask?

the beauty of sonic

I used to meet a student a Sonic about once a week. We would sit outside, pick weird drink flavors for each other, (my favorite is chocolate, strawberry, vanilla Coke… ) and catch up on our lives.

We didn’t do anything particularly religious, but I always felt that our time together was sacred.

Sometimes I worry that we as a youth group spend so much time focused on deepening our walks with Jesus that we miss the second commandment to love our neighbor as ourself.

I think maybe we should all spend a little more time just being with one another.

Psalm 133:1 says:

” Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”

God gave Eve to Adam, Jonathan to David, Ruth to Naomi,  Paul to Barnabas. God loves friendship. God loves community. Perhaps God even seems most present when two or more friends are gathered together.

In John 15:13 Jesus tells us that ” Greater loves has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

Go today and spend time with someone you care about. You don’t have to have a bible study, or spend hours praying together or even discuss serious topics. Just do whatever you can to deepen your relationship that person. Remind them that you love them and so does your Heavenly Father.

and… if you go to sonic, try a peanut-butter sprite or a chocolate root beer but avoid grape sweet tea at all cost.
